HOCI Trauma Intensives

Gina is a certified Developmental & Relational Trauma Therapist (DARTT) through the Healing Our Core Issues (HOCI) Institute.

What is an intensive?

An intensive is a concentrated 3-day period of trauma therapy. It combines educational, debriefing, experiential, and integrative phases within a small group. This enables the client to accomplish significantly more within a shorter period of time. Many participants equate their growth in this process to equal 6 months or more of weekly sessions! The group setting helps the client connect with others who are on a similar healing journey, and provides a wonderful sense of validation, empathy, and practice of one’s own healing boundaries.

What is developmental trauma?

From the Healing Our Core Issues Institute website:
Developmental trauma is defined as experiences of emotional, physical, sexual, spiritual, intellectual or neglect abuse a person has lived through in their life from birth through eighteen.

Whether in the family of origin or from others outside of the home, abuse can have an impact on adults in a variety of dysfunctional ways. After experiencing this in childhood, it affects relationships in adulthood. The pervasive patterns still operate in a dysfunctional manner.

Even individuals who have grown up in healthy families who experience trauma(s), as adults can experience relational trauma. Relational trauma is a break in the attachment bond with a partner/friend which brings about betrayal and abandonment issues. With this understanding, this kind of adult pain by definition creates relational trauma.

What is Healing Our Core Issues (HOCI)?

From the Healing Our Core Issues Institute website:
Healing Our Core Issues is a developmental and relational trauma model based on the belief that individuals who have experienced suffering in their lives can receive relief, healing and experience joy again. This in turn creates a new experience of their life that brings more joy and fulfillment and creates deeper connections and attachments in relationships.

MRC does not accept (or bill) health insurance. However, MRC can provide an invoice statement with insurance billing codes that you may submit to your health carrier to consider for reimbursement.

Note: Insurance carriers often require a diagnosis before reimbursing. With that knowledge, some people may choose not to file for coverage in order to prevent a diagnosis being added to their medical records.
